Event Recap: Media Coverage for Try Advisor’s “Dare to Try” Coaching Retreat

Washington, D.C. | June 19–20, 2025

When Trish Yan and Ari Kushimoto reached out about capturing their two-day coaching retreat, Dare to Try, they weren’t looking for traditional event coverage. They needed a media partner who could document the experience, deliver same-day content for social media, and create a high-impact sizzle reel that would drive interest in future retreats.

This project is a great example of how Macias Media helps brands turn live events into strategic content assets.

The Ask: Multi-Format Event Coverage with Same-Day Social Media Delivery

Trish is a real estate coach within the Sotheby’s network who mentors women in the industry on sales strategy, communication, and client retention. The Dare to Try retreat marked the first time she brought her national coaching network together for in-person sessions and connection.

The deliverables included:

  • A 2-day photo and video capture plan

  • A sizzle reel for future event marketing

  • Five short-form videos (reels) delivered same-day or within 24 hours

  • On-site interviews to elevate the retreat’s impact through client testimonials

We were hired to handle full production—from pre-event scouting to final edit.

Day One: Real Estate Listing, Networking Dinner, and Ambient B-Roll

The event opened at a private listing on Foxhall Road in collaboration with Jonathan Taylor’s team. Guests received a tour of the home and began connecting informally. Our team captured lifestyle b-roll of the listing and early arrivals to help establish tone and atmosphere for the final video assets.

Later that evening, the group convened for a networking dinner in Georgetown. Pre-event arrival was critical: the restaurant posed unique lighting challenges, and we were able to adjust lighting and exposure strategies to get polished, usable footage in a tight turnaround window.

Day Two: Retreat Execution and Interview Production

The main retreat took place at the Georgetown Club. Sessions were designed to foster connection and professional development among Trish’s coaching clients, with a mix of structured workshops and open discussion.

Our team set up a two-camera interview station upstairs in an unused suite provided by the venue. Using timecode sync, directional audio (Rode NTG5 and Zoom H6), and a soft lighting setup, we conducted testimonial-style interviews with attendees.

These interviews became the narrative framework for the sizzle reel—giving us high-quality, authentic content to drive next year’s marketing campaign.
